FMC Cilpyrox (also known as FMC Thifluzamide or Pulsor fungicide) is a systemic SDHI fungicide that provides highly effective control of Sheath Blight in paddy and Black Scurf in potato. It works by inhibiting succinate dehydrogenase (Complex II) in the fungal mitochondrial respiratory chain, blocking ATP production and halting pathogen growth. FMC Cilpyrox offers both preventive and early curative action, is rainfast after absorption, and delivers long-lasting residual protection.

Key Features and Benefits of FMC Cilpyrox Fungicide

  • Quick Action: Rapidly stops the growth of active fungal lesions on the sheath after absorption, providing quick disease relief.
  • Systemic Action: Absorbed by roots and leaves and translocated throughout the crop for even internal coverage.
  • Dual Application: Effective as a preventive and early curative application, making it highly versatile across spray schedules.
  • Rainfast: Rapidly absorbed by plant tissues, minimising the risk of wash-off from unexpected rainfall.
  • Long-Lasting Residual: Remains active within the plant system for extended periods after application, reducing the need for frequent sprays.
  • SDHI Mode of Action: Targets Complex II in fungal mitochondria — a distinct and effective site of action against Rhizoctonia solani.

Cilpyrox Fungicide Technical Name

Thifluzamide 24% SC (Suspension Concentrate) | Also marketed as: FMC Thifluzamide, Pulsor Fungicide

Cilpyrox Fungicide Uses — Target Crops and Diseases

Crop Target Disease Pathogen Application Method
Paddy (Rice) Sheath Blight Rhizoctonia solani Foliar Spray
Potato Black Scurf Rhizoctonia solani Foliar Spray or Seed Treatment

FMC Cilpyrox Dose — Recommended Dosage

The recommended dose is 1 ml per litre of water — equivalent to 15 ml per 15L knapsack sprayer, or 150 ml per acre in 150 litres of water.

Crop Target Disease Dose Per Acre Per 15L Pump Per Litre Timing
Paddy Sheath Blight 150 ml 15 ml 1 ml Booting stage — at first appearance of Sheath Blight on lower sheaths
Potato Black Scurf 150 ml 15 ml 1 ml Foliar spray or seed treatment before planting

Mode of Action

Thifluzamide is an SDHI (Succinate Dehydrogenase Inhibitor) belonging to FRAC Group 7. After absorption through roots and leaves, it is translocated via xylem and apoplast, where it binds to Complex II (succinate dehydrogenase) in the fungal mitochondria. This blocks electron transport and halts ATP production, starving the fungus of energy and stopping hyphal growth and sporulation.

How To Use FMC Cilpyrox Fungicide

  1. Measure 1 ml of Cilpyrox per litre of water (150 ml per acre).
  2. Mix in a small quantity of water first, then dilute to 150 litres per acre and stir well.
  3. Spray uniformly over the crop canopy — ensure thorough coverage of the lower leaf sheaths where Sheath Blight initiates.
  4. Apply at the booting stage in paddy at the first appearance of disease on lower sheaths for best results.
  5. For potato Black Scurf, apply as a foliar spray or as a seed treatment before planting as directed on the label.
  6. Spray during early morning or late evening — avoid midday heat. Product is rainfast after absorption.
  7. Wear gloves, mask, and full-sleeve clothing while spraying. Rinse sprayer thoroughly after use.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1. What is FMC Cilpyrox and what diseases does it control?
FMC Cilpyrox (also known as FMC Thifluzamide or Pulsor fungicide) is a systemic SDHI fungicide containing Thifluzamide 24% SC. It is registered for paddy (rice) and potato crops, and provides highly effective control of Sheath Blight (caused by Rhizoctonia solani) in paddy and Black Scurf (Rhizoctonia solani) in potato. It works by blocking succinate dehydrogenase (Complex II) in fungal mitochondria, stopping fungal energy production and growth.

Q2. What is the correct dose of FMC Cilpyrox / Thifluzamide for paddy?
The recommended dose is 1 ml per litre of water — equivalent to 15 ml per 15-litre knapsack sprayer, or 150 ml per acre in 150 litres of water. Apply at the booting stage in paddy at the first appearance of Sheath Blight on the lower leaf sheaths for best disease control.

Q3. Is Cilpyrox the same as Pulsor or FMC Thifluzamide?
Yes. Cilpyrox, Pulsor, and FMC Thifluzamide all refer to fungicide products based on the same active ingredient — Thifluzamide 24% SC — manufactured or marketed by FMC India. Cilpyrox is the brand name sold through Kisaan24. All share the same SDHI mode of action targeting Rhizoctonia solani.

Q4. Can FMC Cilpyrox be used on potato for Black Scurf?
Yes. Cilpyrox is registered for use on potato against Black Scurf caused by Rhizoctonia solani. It can be applied as a foliar spray or as a seed treatment before planting, as directed on the product label. The recommended dose is 150 ml per acre (1 ml per litre of water) for foliar application.

Product results may vary based on soil conditions, weather, and application methods; Kisaan24 is not liable for factors beyond our control.
